The Voson Stainless Steel Z-Type Bucket Elevator provides enclosed transfer of maize, corn grits, seeds, grains and other suitable granular products between equipment at different heights. Its conveying path combines a lower horizontal section, a vertical lifting section and an upper horizontal discharge section, allowing the machine to feed and discharge around existing production equipment.

Material is carried in a series of overlapping buckets connected to a chain or belt. The buckets move at a controlled speed through the enclosed casing, helping reduce spillage, product loss and external contamination. The inlet, lifting height, upper conveying length, outlet position and support structure are customized for the plant layout.

No universal capacity, lifting height or motor-power value applies to every Z-type elevator. Final selection depends on material bulk density, particle size, fragility, moisture, flowability, required throughput, conveying route, bucket volume, bucket spacing and operating speed.

How a Z-Type Bucket Elevator Works

Material enters the lower feeding section through a hopper or controlled inlet. As the buckets pass the feeding point, they receive the product and carry it horizontally toward the vertical casing. The bucket train then moves upward and continues through the upper horizontal section before discharging at the selected outlet.

The buckets remain closely spaced or overlapping along the conveying route. This arrangement helps retain granular material as the buckets move around the lower and upper corners. Discharge method and speed are selected according to the material and equipment configuration.

Stable feeding is essential. The upstream device should deliver material at a rate that matches the available bucket volume. Excessive feeding can cause buildup at the inlet, while insufficient feeding reduces effective capacity. Electrical interlocks can coordinate the elevator with upstream and downstream machines.

1. Lower Feeding Section

The lower horizontal section can include a feed hopper, controlled inlet and inspection access. Its length and feeding height can be adapted to the operator, upstream conveyor or processing machine.

In maize processing, a Z-type bucket elevator is useful where granular material must be lifted while also moving horizontally to a specific inlet or outlet position. It can transfer corn grits between grading and storage sections, feed seeds or grains to weighing equipment, or connect a lower production machine with an elevated packing-system hopper.
